Mechanical Manufacturing Engineer
Job Description
Summary
The ideal candidate will develop, implement and maintain, product and process activities in support of Contract Manufacturers, QA personnel, and Customer Services. This shall include the following: introduce new products into manufacturing (internally and externally), provide technical support and advice on mechanical fit, tolerance and assembly issues, and implement required product mechanical changes to best meet the business objectives.
Job Characteristics and Requirements
* Provides design and quality improvement support to CM, QA, and Customer Services.
* Performs corrective action analysis and implements the planned solutions for product assembly and test. Initiates product assembly plans.
* Creates and implements Manufacturing Process Instructions for sub-assemblies, cable routing, and finished assemblies.
* Utilyzes Pro/E 3D modeling to perform DFM on new product for fabrication, assembly, quality control, and environmental issues. Data is relayed to the design team in a timely manner so that suggested manufacturing changes are incorporated in the Pilot design phase.
* Analyzes and solves design and manufacturing issues with basic engineering principles, theories and concepts.
* Write ECOs and deviations, and submit all CAD data and drawing updates required for each ECO package.
* Final analysis of manufacturing issues will require design updates to cables, sheetmetal, and plastic parts.
* Works with ECO review team to perform drawing and 3D model checking on newly released products.
* Has experience in designing and fabrication of sheetmetal, injection molded plastic and aluminum extrusions.
* Proficient with Pro/E 3D CAD.
* Proficient in structural analysis tools.
* Proficient in Geometric tolerance and tolerance analysis.
* Has excellent verbal and written communication skills. Will be communicating on a regular basis with multiple groups within Operations and Design Engineering, as well as external vendors.
