SUMMARY Responsible for performing a variety of engineering assignments under the direct supervision of senior engineering personnel. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Performs assignments which have clear and specified objectives and which require investigation of a limited number of variables. Under the guidance of the senior engineer establishes work measurement programs and analyzes work samples to develop standards for labor utilization. Analyzes work force utilization, facility layout, and operational data to determine efficient utilization of workers and equipment. Recommends to senior engineers methods for improving worker efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities. Reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer contract requirements, and related specifications. Works with management and engineering staff to implement plans and recommendations. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university; or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and customers. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. REASONING ABILITY Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
