What Network Engineering contributes to Cardinal Health
Designs and plans network systems. Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture. Provides specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements. Conducts testing of network design. Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc. Evaluates and reports on new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.

Accountabilities in this role
The Network Engineer is responsible for managing the assessment and implementation of Server hardware and software products. Must be able to contribute to the development of a system implementation schedule, manage the system implementation team, and serve as the customer’s primary technical point of contact to manage all issues that may arise at the customer site.
This position is accountable for:
Responsible for managing large scale projects at hospitals from pre-planning to execution through follow up by developing and organizing resources, equipment, and timelines with a focus on efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Serves as the primary technical point of contact for customers implementing server hardware and system software products, and supports sales consultant as project technical point of contact in product system evaluations.
Consults with selling team to transition server account information in the post sale / implementation phase.
Conducts testing of our system software solution in the customer test environment.
Consults/guides, in all departments, the customer to a successful implementation of hospital wide server hardware/software system.
Interacts with multi-function teams at the client site to ensure a successful system implementation
Provides Level 2 remote technical assistance for server hardware and software products
Serves as a technical product specialist liaison to the various groups within the organization
50% domestic travel installing patient safety server software in hospitals
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in related field required
0-2 years related work experience required
Ability to follow instructions accurately and work as a member of a team
Familiarity with Windows Server 2003
Solid Understanding of SQL 2005
Experienced with LAN/WLAN Troubleshooting
Successfully completed Client Server Application Installation & Upgrades
Strong Client interaction skills
Ability to manage small scale projects
