Description:
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate naval architecture or engineering discipline from an ABET accredited school of engineering. Where appropriate to an area of engineering specialty, a candidate may qualify for this position based on the acquisition of a bachelor’s or higher degree in engineering technology, physics, mathematics, architecture, or computer science (not programming or management information science). May require the ability to obtain and retain specific security clearances as well as full or partial radiation worker qualifications. May require the ability to physically access a wide variety of work sites, including those aboard ships under various stages of construction or overhaul, including the use of vertical and inclined ladders, and may involve limited kneeling, stooping, standing, etc. The candidate must be capable of utilizing textbook engineering methods as well as Finite Element Analysis software to develop designs of tools and equipment and pressure vessels which will be used for reactor servicing and nuclear operations. Previous tank and pressure vessel design experience is preferred. The candidate should also be able to interpret drawings depicting his or her designs. The candidate must have excellent communication skills and be able to interface with numerous other Engineering and Trades organizations.
