ASIC Development Engineer - Student - 2130
Job Description
Hitachi Global Storage Technologies is seeking an engineering student interested in ASIC development. The student will join the hard disk controller (HDC) development team in San Jose, CA. You will be part of a multi-site team that develops System on a Chip (SoC) controller designs for new hard disk drive products. This position allows participation in the ASIC design cycle with an emphasis in ASIC verification.
Responsibilities include the following:
* Exposure to logic design using VHDL
* Design verification using ModelSim
* Design documentation and application note development
Job Requirements
The student will need to have completed upper-division logic design and verification coursework to establish an adequate background in ASIC design, modeling and verification. System architecture coursework can be helpful too.
The following skills are necessary:
* Working knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems
* Logic design skills: VHDL
* Verification skills: environment development, model build, test case design and debug using Mentor Graphics ModelSim
* C/C knowledge is a plus
* Strong verbal and written communication skills are required to interface within the team and outside the team across various disciplines
* The successful candidate will work in a small, fast moving, multi-site team so strong teamwork and proactive communication are important.
