Job Overview:
This is an exciting opportunity to do challenging work in the structural analysis discipline. Aerojet is looking for an associate engineer in the area of structural analysis supporting both liquid and solid propulsion systems and components. The successful candidate will have ample opportunity to learn state of the art finite element modeling and analysis skills using commercial codes from a group of highly experienced structural analysts. In addition, the analyst will closely interface with design and manufacturing engineers to determine the structural integrity of propulsion hardware and system designs.
Responsibilities:
70% - Under supervision of senior engineering staff, perform structural analysis of solid and liquid propulsion systems and components. Conduct finite element analyses using commercial codes such as ANSYS, on propulsion systems and components, constructed from metallic and non-metallic materials. Provide structural design solutions and verification methods. Evaluate structural integrity using classical methods.
20% - Design and support verification tests of propulsion systems and components. Develop test systems and strategies, specify instrumentation and analyze test results. Participate in team meetings, technical reviews, design reviews, peer reviews and problem solving meetings.
10% - Prepare analysis and test reports. Present analysis results.
Qualifications:
Master of Science (preferred) OR Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Civil or Aerospace Engineering required. Some directly applicable technical experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is desirable.
